Drafting for couples

Reciprocal documents and what should differ between them.

A couples matter begins with shared household information, but each spouse remains a separate person with separate fiduciary and healthcare choices. Review every mirrored answer instead of assuming both documents should be identical.

One shared revocable trust and two reciprocal trusts are different structures. The drafter keeps the selected structure consistent across the trust, pour-over wills, certifications, assignments, and funding materials.

Pay special attention to children from prior relationships, separate property, different ultimate beneficiaries, citizenship, and any instruction one spouse does not share. Those differences should be captured explicitly before generation.
