Frequently asked questions
Getting started
- How does Estateur work?
- Choose a package, pay once, and complete a guided interview that asks one plain-English question at a time. Estateur prepares your state-specific documents, checks them, and delivers them in your account with signing instructions.
- Who is Estateur for?
- Estateur is for adults who want to prepare their own estate-planning documents through a guided self-help service. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Complex or disputed situations may require a licensed attorney.
- Which states are supported?
- All 50 states and the District of Columbia. Every supported document is tailored to the execution formalities, witness requirements, and statutory standards of your state.
Drafting & execution
- How current is the state-law drafting?
- Documents follow each state's rules for wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, with mandatory clauses and citations built in. To become effective, a document must be signed, witnessed, and, where required, notarized according to its included instructions.
- How do clients sign and execute?
- Every plan includes state-specific execution instructions. Most wills require adult witnesses; trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare documents may have different witness or notarization rules. Follow the checklist included with each document.
- Can documents be revised or amended later?
- Eligible existing customers can add Estateur Care for future updates. Your account also keeps your purchased plan and signing instructions together.
Purchase & account
- How is Estateur priced?
- Consumer plans use a flat one-time price shown before checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe. The current checkout does not start an automatic renewal.
- What if I have a billing or delivery problem?
- Email contact@estateur.com with the email used for your order. Do not send Social Security numbers, passwords, or full payment-card details.
- Where do my documents live?
- Your purchased plans, documents, and execution instructions live in your Estateur account. Sign in from another device to continue an unfinished authenticated intake.
Security & privacy
- How is my information protected?
- Estateur uses encryption in transit, access controls, account-level data isolation, password hashing, and field-level encryption for designated sensitive fields. Estateur does not sell your personal information.
- Who can see my documents?
- Your documents are scoped to your account. Anyone you intentionally share a vault link with may see the documents covered by that link, so treat shared links carefully.
Estateur is a self-help document preparation service, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice. For legal questions, consult a licensed estate attorney in your state.
